A chilly autumn afternoon up at Base 31 for a great presentation by the County Foundation who have been measuring the County’s “Vital Signs” since 2013. The Foundation really ‘walks the talk’ on collaboration with community partners – today we heard presentations on youth engagement (which tells me we have a youth council waiting in the wings) housing affordability, the post COVID struggles our business community is grappling with, the group focused on keeping seniors in their own homes (a key priority for me), efforts being made to recruit doctors to the County, and an update from the OPP on their efforts to partner officers with mental health and addictions counsellors on calls.
Congrats to Anne VanVlack – responsible for the Vital Signs data gathering initiative – and her colleagues. I came away energized by the great things being done in our community and how much more can be done!
